Devon Day Trip Ideas From Torquay - Part 1

Dartmouth, Devon - luxury self catering holiday accommodation to rent in Torquay

Brixham & Darmouth

Torquay is the heart of the English Riviera and is a great place to base yourself while visiting Devon. You have everything you need for a great holiday right in Torquay, but if you also want to explore a bit of Devon, we have some great day trip ideas for you.

For a short day trip from Torquay, Brixham is a short 20 minute drive away. Brixham is part of Torbay and is also within what is known as the English Riviera. In Brixham, you can stroll around one of the U.K.'s biggest fishing ports, then walk or drive to Berry Head. Berry Head is oa national nature reserve and is designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest. It also offers stunning views up and down the coast of the Devon.

After a morning in Brixham, drive south to Kingswear and get the car ferry over to Dartmouth for lunch. We recommend Mitch Tonk's award-winning restaurant Seahorse. Here you can dine on locally caught seafood cooked with some amazingly creative recipes.

After a lovely lunch, you can either catch the ferry back towards Brixham and Torbay, or carry on up the Dart Estuary and drive through some beautiful countryside towards Totnes. Totnes is a lovely little town full of unique and independent shops - it's certainly worth a stop off if you have time. From here, it's only a 20 minute drive back to Torquay.

If you do go on this wonderful Devon day out, we hope you enjoy it! We will post some more of our favourite days out in Torquay and Devon in the upcoming posts.
