An Idyllic Day Out in Torquay – A Local's Guide
As hosts of luxury self catering holiday accommodation to rent in Torquay, we're often asked what our ideal day out would entail - so we've provided our little local's guide below!
IN THE AM...
Having popped in to pick up a coffee and a pastry at Coffee #1, we would start our day with a slow walk past the beautiful harbour and stroll along the promenade towards Torre Abbey Sands.
After a relaxing walk, we'd go on a visit to Kents Cavern – a prehistoric cave system that is one of only two places in the world to have evidence of three different species of humans. You can also see the incredible remains of an ice age bear and her cub there.
For lunch, we'd head to Rockfish in the harbour for some seriously fresh, well-cooked seafood and a bottle of their own tasty cider.
IN THE PM...
In the afternoon, we'd head to Meadfoot Beach for a play, relax and a swim. This is one of Torbay's many stunning beaches that has incredible geology and a seriously Mediterranean feel.
For dinner, we would head to Fat Cow, for a delicious burger, a creative rum cocktail and some relaxed reggae music.
After dinner, we would then move on to the Salcombe Gin Company's Wessup bar for some delicious gin cocktails on the terrace, overlooking the harbour.
There is SO MUCH to do in Torquay. This is just one example of the many options you have for a great day out. Stay tuned for more ideas!
